LOCATION: Anadarko, Oklahoma GRANTEE: Delaware Nation of Oklahoma
Anadarko is a food desert, meaning residents have limited access to fresh, healthy food options. AARP Community Challenge grant funds were used to install raised garden beds and seating,
features that are helpful to people of all ages. The garden serves as an anchor to unite the community and enable them to have a healthier diet. Educational signage with health facts and
plant information is located throughout the garden. Cooking demonstrations teach residents how to make good use of the homegrown produce.
The AARP Community Challenge funds "quick-action"projects that build momentum for local change to improve livability for people of all ages.
