home in Sutton Coldfield, leading to a main road being shut and a man being arrested. The incident took place in Chester Road in New Oscott, opposite St Mary’s Oscott College around 1.30pm


on Thursday (June 5). A number of armed police were spotted in the area with guns pointed towards a home, close to the traffic-lighted junction with College Road and a parade of shops. READ

both marked and unmarked police cars and a number of armed police dressed in black, wearing helmets and carrying guns. A man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess a firearm with


intent to endanger life. He remains in police custody. The incident led to Chester Road being closed. West Midlands Roads, the traffic information service from Transport for West Midlands


posted at 1.40pm and said: “Major disruption. “A452 Chester Rd / A453 College Rd. Incident. Road closed. Plan Ahead: “Allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative routes where

was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody this evening as enquiries continue.”
