Anyone not already caught up in the excitement around £3 billion plans to transform land in Bordesley Green into a sporting mecca might be swayed by a brand new video simulating the
'view from a train' of the finished scheme. Birmingham City FC have released a stunning new computer generated video to show what they envisage will be the new Blues stadium and
entertainment complex. It shows the view that a passenger on a mainline train coming into a revamped and extended Adderley Park station and beyond can expect to see, with the Blues stadium
looming into view. READ MORE: WHEN NEW BLUES STADIUM AND TRAM LINE LINK WILL BE OPEN AS BIRMINGHAM CITY OWNERS SAY 'QUICKLY' Over the course of just over one minute, the video
shows the made-over station platform lined with Blues fans, with new buildings looming into view adorned with past Blues icons including Trevor Francis and Jude Bellingham which will likely
be housing some of the new leisure and entertainment facilities promised by Knighthead chief Tom Wagner. As the journey proceeds, a first glimpse of the Blues stadium appears, set in a
treelined park. In this dream vision, everyone is smiling and the sky is blue. It's the latest step in Tom Wagner's personal mission to ensure his masterplan is embraced and
awaited eagerly, before a single spade goes in the ground. A major hurdle was crossed earlier this week when the Chancellor Rachel Reeves visited the Blues' current stadium St Andrews
to announce Government funding for the first phase of a tram line out of the city centre to the Sports Quarter, providing a second transport route to get visitors in and out of the ground.
It was hailed by Wagner as a vital step that was a 'springboard' to the scheme moving forward. Speaking at a press conference formally announcing the funding, he said: "It is
exciting not just for the club and this part of the city but it is a citywide and regional project that will receive national and international attention, I can assure you of that. "It
shows the value of collaborating and drawing inbound investment into areas that so desperately need it." He also emphasised he was eager that his dream became reality as soon as
possible - restating his hope that the stadium and at least some parts of the project would be ready 'by 2030'. Plans are now being drawn up ready to submit to the city council by
January 2026.
