heatwave - with a list of the hottest areas revealed. Southern England is expected to primarily benefit from a rise in the mercury, with highs of 23C forecast for London, Sussex and

Hampshire on Saturday, April 5.

Double-digit temperatures will also hit the rest of the UK, however, with the coolest conditions in Scotland, hovering around 14C and warmest in the West Midlands around Birmingham, set to

rise to 19C.

‌ A Met Office forecast for April 4 onwards explains: "High pressure will often be centred to the north or east of the UK, especially early in the period, maintaining relatively settled

conditions for much of the time.

"This should result in lengthy spells of dry and bright weather, but also an ongoing risk of overnight frosts, especially where winds fall light. There is the chance of some areas of low

cloud or fog, especially around some coasts.

"Daytime temperatures will tend to fluctuate depending on the wind direction and cloud amounts, with the potential for warm conditions at times but also cooler interludes. It will be breezy

at times, especially in the southwest early on."

A BBC Weather forecast for Saturday 29 March to Sunday 6 April promises it will be "trending warmer next week", adding: "As for the weekend, Saturday will turn unsettled and windy again,

with showers or spells of rain arriving from the west and north-west later the day, after a quite chilly start mainly in eastern and southern areas. However, Sunday promises that conditions

will settle down, along with sunny spells and higher temperatures.

Article continues below "As we enter April, the global weather prediction models now agree on a stable high pressure dominated pattern which could settle over parts of the UK at first and

later shift towards western and central continental Europe and into Scandinavia. This would mean a lot of dry weather with temperatures climbing well above average. Spells of mist and fog

are possible in the morning hours. The winds could pick up a little during the first half of next week, in line with a brisk off-continental flow establishing itself.

"Nevertheless, as the week progresses, a bunch of global weather models continue to show a stronger high pressure signal shifting over the far north-west of Europe, especially towards next

weekend. This could lead to an increased risk of a colder snap, with air masses of Arctic origin possibly moving south across the United Kingdom or further east across Scandinavia and more

oriented towards central-eastern continental Europe, along with brisk northerly winds.

"The more probable outcome is for a continuation of a high pressure predominated pattern, with further largely dry weather and temperatures slightly decreasing yet remaining above average.

Furthermore, south-western and western areas could tend to be somewhat wetter and windier as the high pressure shifts further east."
