has hit the island of Rhodes, Greece, with tourists plunged into a state of panic.
Tremors were detected along the Turkey-Greece border in Southern Greece and western Turkey, as well as the costal regions of the Aegean Sea in the early hours of this morning (June 3),
forcing airline, TUI, to step into the situation.
The earthquake recorded at 12.30am has been pinpointed as the second of in a string of other 'quakes throughout the night, the Express said.
A 5.8 magnitude earthquake was reported at 11.17pm UTC yesterday night, on the border between Greece and Turkey, around 100 miles south east of Aydın, Turkey at a depth of 42 miles,
according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

Local residents and holidaymakers staying on island were plunged into a state of panic, as shaking was experienced across the region.
Article continues below In response, TUI issued an urgent message, asking tourists to "remain calm."
The statement read: "Dear Guests. We would like to inform you that an earthquake occurred at 02.17am with a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale.
"The epicentre was located approximately 18 kilometres from Rhodes, at a depth of 68 kilometres (42 miles).
"Local authorities are currently assessing the situation. At this time, there are no reports of significant damage or injuries.
"As a precaution, please remain calm and follow any safety instructions provided by your accommodation or local officials.
"Should any specific action be required on your part, rest assured that we will contact you directly with further guidance. Your safety and well-being are our top priority."

Emergency services and local authorities are still on high alert, with the concern of aftershocks in many individuals' minds.
At the moment, residents in Turkey have experienced disruption, with the death of a 14-year-old girl reported, and 69 people injured, according to The Mirror.
Article continues below UK tourists on holiday took to X (Twitter) to describe the experience, with one stating the room "shook violently," while they were in Rhodes.
They said: "Woke us up - the hotel room shook violently while we were on holiday in Rhodes. Never felt an earthquake before, so it was a little concerning."
Another added: "Earthquake near Rhodes about 2.15am in the morning. Also affected was Turkey, and we also felt it in Kos."
