Magical Kylie Minogue dazzled and delighted Birmingham with a high energy, hit-laden show packed full of dance/disco/pop treats from throughout her glittering career.

The Princess of Pop unleashed the Tension tour on the BP Pulse Live Arena on Saturday (May 31) leaving thousands of her adoring fans in sheer awe.

She had the entire crowd eating out of her hands from the second the opening strains of Lights, Camera Action got underway.

"Birmingham, are you ready?" is how she greeted us and the answer was an emphatic "yes" in the form of ear splitting screams and cheers.

Kylie seemed as delighted and excited to be there as much as Birmingham was to be hosting her and this resulted in an electric set.

She turned 57 a few days ago and has been in the limelight for 40 years and she dipped into her back catalogue from those past decades as well as delivering newer bangers such as 'Taboo',

'Things We Do For Love' and 'Hold On To Now' from her most recent 'Tension' and 'Tension II' albums - which already sound like instant classics.

Fans were sent into delirium when much loved hits in the shape of 'What Do I Have To Do?', 'Spinning Around', 'Better The Devil You Know' and - the song which started it all - 'Locomotion'

were given welcome airings.

Birmingham was given a special treat during 'Shocked' when Jazzi P - who did the original rap on the 1991 record - made a surprise and welcome guest appearance to reprise her role.

Kylie's vast appeal to people young and old remains as strong and fresh as it's ever been and this was demonstrated when she moved to the smaller stage in the middle of the arena and

interacted with lucky fans up close.

This included one who has seen her more than 100 times in shows around the world to a young lad (smartly dressed as Jason Donovan which convinced Kylie to break out a version of 'Especially

For You'!) seeing her for the first time.

She took impromptu requests and gave us short refrains of the likes of 'Je Na Sais Pas Pourqoui', 'Never Too Late' and 'Where The Wild Roses Grow'.

There was an emotional moment as she thanked everyone for their support during Covid and performed the gorgeous 'Say Something', recorded during that period for her Disco LP and a song she

has wanted to play live since.

But the thumping, energetic tracks kept on coming, the highlight being a double blast of the epic, brooding 'Confide In Me' and the sultry 'Slow'.

She strutted around the stage, backed by an outstanding backing band and dancers, dropping hit after hit, finishing the main set with 'Tension', 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' and 'All the

Lovers'.

Of course, Kylie wasn't done there. She bounced back on stage and finished things off in superb style with 'Padam Padam' and 'Love At First Sight'.

Confetti and streamers were blasted out into the crowd and the standing ovation lasted an age as Kylie deservedly took her plaudits.

Despite achieving her first UK number one in 1988, Kylie seems to still be at the peak of her powers and, best of all, there seems to be much more to come from this five foot tall force of

nature in the future.
