Zoom’s video calling app is being introduced on 2022 and 2023 versions of Sony Google TVs, but to be able to use it, Sony’s Bravia Cam must be purchased. After a previous failed attempt,
video calling is coming back to smart TVs, allowing users to talk with friends, family and colleagues on a large screen. At the beginning of this month, Apple announced FaceTime, Zoom and
WebEx will become available for Apple TVs, and now Sony have announced a Zoom partnership. Head of Bravia TV Product Design at Sony, Shusuke Tomonaga said, “We are excited to partner with
Zoom to bring video conferencing to our Bravia TVs, making Zoom services available on the Android TV platform. This partnership will make it possible for our customers to enjoy more
realistic video communication on a large TV screen in the living room, enabling them to be more connected with the people they care about, whether they are working from home, learning
remotely, or just catching up with friends and family.” This app will become compatible with the following Sony TV models: * X95L * X93L * A80L * X90L * X85L * X80L * X75L * Z9K * A95K *
X95K * A90K * A80K * A75K * X90K * X90S * X85K * X80K Sony have claimed it will be the “first TV brand to support the Zoom for TV app on Google Play Store” and to use it, one must own the
Sony Bravia Cam that attaches to the TV. This camera also offers improved ambient optimisation for picture and sound, gesture control, Proximity Alert detecting when kids are too close, and
Auto Power Saving Mode, dimming the screen when no one is watching. It is expected to be available in the Google Play Store in the coming months.
