PARTY’S YOUTH WING SAYS ABOLISHING INCOME TAX WOULD INJECT €70 BILLION INTO THE ECONOMY INCOME tax should be abolished, according to a petition launched by the youth wing of the centre-right
UMP party. The Jeunes Actifs de l'UMP launched their petition in the finance-orientated newspaper _Les Echos_, describing it as an “audacious but realistic proposal”. The group’s
president Franck Allisio said the move would save €200 a month for every person in France, boosting spending power. The group attacked what they called a “tax onslaught” from the current
government. “In reality, we are, strangely, the only country in the world with the power to scrap our income tax,” he said. “Its yeild is actually very weak, just 10% of public resources and
4% of national wealth.” “Publicised across social networks and on the ground, this national petition seeks to unite opponents of the tax idiocy of a socialist government at war against work
and merit, with the aim of provoking a new ‘winter of discontent’ and tomorrow, perhaps a fiscal spring,” said Mr Allisio. Photo: Fotoloia -Philippe Devanne
