A Coventry woman who opened a new city eatery said she has been 'surprised' by how positively it has been received. Locals have been flocking to Dozy Café on Torcross Avenue in
Wyken. Artist Melicka Fouri, from Coventry, runs the new city café alongside her parents, Shahin Rostami and Mohammad Ghafouri. It welcomed people for the first time on Tuesday (May 27).
With a beautifully designed interior and hand-painted walls, Melicka said they are hoping to bring something 'really cool' to Coventry. Waffles and Pistachio Comfort Cookie Dough
are just some of the items on offer from £8. READ MORE: BUCKS COVENTRY CLOSING FOR GOOD IN JUST DAYS AFTER 'INCREDIBLE JOURNEY' Customers have been raving about the
'lovely' new eatery, which opens from 12pm to 7pm Tuesday to Sunday. In just a few days, it has received an impressive 5-star rating on Google. CoventryLive popped to Dozy Café and
chatted to 23-year-old Melicka, who said she wanted to open the new eatery because she 'loves trying new things.' She also revealed that the inspiration behind the décor stemmed
from working with big-name brands, such as Nike and Adidas. She said: “I just love trying new things and challenging myself, and then also being part of my family because it is all part of a
family-run business. My dad built the whole place, so he did his part and just changed the whole place around, and I was designing it.” Melicka has worked with major brands, including Nike,
Adidas, and New Balance. She has been drawing for years and said coming up with innovative new ideas is something she 'loves.' Asked what inspired the interior of Dozy Café,
Melicka said: “I just wanted to do something really cool in Coventry. I love Coventry, and I wanted it to be a spot where there is more than a reason to hang out for the food. Obviously, the
food is great, but the artwork is something I have been doing for a few years, and bringing part of me to my café was something I definitely wanted to do.” Melicka said she was
'surprised' by how well Dozy Café has been received across Coventry. One Facebook post received more than 150 reactions from people eager to try it out, with the 23-year-old
saying: “Crazy. I had no idea people were putting it on Facebook.” She added: “Everyone is excited that it is finally open as the shutters have been down for so long. It is really nice just
to see people excited to see what is inside! I was very nervous at the beginning, but I have not heard one bad thing yet.” SIGN UP FOR OUR FREE DAILY NEWSLETTER HERE FOR ALL THE LATEST NEWS
