A 'middle lane hogger' was clocked on the M6 'overtaking nothing but fresh air'. Rugby police officers spotted the car in the middle lane of the M6 southbound between
junctions 2 and 1 on Sunday night (March 2). Officers said that they stopped the car and gave the driver, who has not been identified, traffic offence report for driving a motor vehicle
without due care and attention. This offence, they say, carries a penalty of three points and £100 fine. The also issued a warning about the dangerous motorway manoeuvre. "This issue is
very common on our motorway network, and puts other drivers at risk," the team said. READ MORE: STARK EXTENT OF WINTER PRESSURE AT NUNEATON'S HOSPITAL REVEALED AS MORE THAN 100

page on Facebook, which reads: "Drivers have to move from lane 1, to lane 3 and back to lane 1 just to conduct a simple overtake. On a 4 lane motorway, that’s even more lane changing.
"The Highway Code states drivers should always stay in the left lane unless overtaking, and move back to the left lane as soon as possible after overtaking. This driving is falling
below the standards of a careful, competent driver which every licence holder must be, and we will take action on this. "If you are tired, please pull off the motorway in a safe
location such as a service station and have some rest. Don’t drive tired, as this will likely cause your driving standards to fall below a careful and competent driver."
