before it crashed with a police car yesterday afternoon, Sunday, June 1.
Police were called to North Hamilton Street in Kilmarnock after the van, a Ford Transit delivery van, was stolen.
It was soon spotted around a mile away on Portland Street where police attempted to stop the van.
A "vehicle pursuit" then took place during which the van crashed with a police car.
Police were finally able to stop the van on a section of the A71 between the Moorfield Roundabout and the Bellfield Interchange which had been closed for grass cutting.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today, Monday, June 2.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.10pm on Sunday, June 1, 2025, we received a report of a Ford Transit delivery van stolen from North Hamilton Street, Kilmarnock.
“Officers attended and the driver failed to stop for officers on Portland Street, Kilmarnock.
“A vehicle pursuit took place, during which it was involved in a collision with a marked police car. The van was brought to a stop by road policing officers on the A71 at Kilmarnock.
“A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection. He is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, June 2.
“A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
