THE NEW FACILITY IS SET TO OPEN ITS DOORS IN LATE SPRING AFTER AN AMBITIOUS RENOVATION PROJECT. 15:58, 04 Feb 2025 The ongoing renovation of a vital cancer support centre has been marked at
a milestone ceremony. History was recorded with the burying of a time capsule at the new facility set to be opened by Ayrshire Cancer Support later this year. Their centre, on the site of
the former St Andrews Hotel in Ayr, is due to open in late spring and will provide life-changing services to adults, children, and young people affected by cancer. Service users from the
Ayrshire Cancer Support's Children and Young People Service were welcomed on site to give them a sneak peek of the centre before it opens in the coming months. Article continues below
The new facility will be a fully refurbished and extended hub that offers free emotional and practical support to those in the local area. It will include dedicated spaces for children and
young people, making it the first facility of its kind in the region. David Smith, Managing Director of Ashleigh Construction, had the honour of burying the time capsule and said:
"Ashleigh Construction are thrilled to be a part of the build of this new centre which will provide valuable support to those who need it. We are delighted at the progress that has been
made, which is testament to the partnership of our design team and our client, Ayrshire Cancer Support.”
