Dumfries and Galloway has been hit by a small earthquake.


The tremor, measuring 2.2 on the Richter scale, hit a few miles south west of Beattock on Sunday afternoon.

was recorded at a depth of around 1 kilometre.


‌ Data on the British Geological Survey website shows the earthquake happened just after 1.30pm on Sunday.
