ELLIE CRABTREE, 22, FROM BARROW-IN-FURNESS, CUMBRIA, TURNED TO FOOD FOR COMFORT AFTER HER DAD GEOFF'S, 59, TERMINAL BONE CANCER DIAGNOSIS AND BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY IN OCTOBER 2022
13:19, 02 Jun 2025Updated 13:20, 02 Jun 2025 A 22-year-old lass has turned her life around in an inspiring transformation from grief to triumph and become a bodybuilder after being unable to
look at her final photo with her dying father. Ellie Crabtree, from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria battled an unhealthy relationship with food as she turned to food "for comfort"
after her dad Geoff's, 59, terminal bone cancer diagnosis. After piling on five stone while looking after her dad Geoff, Ellie couldn't bear the sight of their last photo together.
The young woman found solace in food "for comfort" following her father's devastating diagnosis in July 2022. With her eating habits out of whack, she indulged in Chinese
takeaways and saw her weight soar to a hefty 5lb. Following her dad's death in October 2022, Ellie embarked on a mission to shed the pounds which had crept on during those tough times.
She managed to drop four stone through sheer determination before stepping into the world of bodybuilding at her local gym, where she sculpted off another two stone to achieve a stunning 9st
3lb figure. Her hard work paid off big time when she snagged second place at the prestigious NABBA bodybuilding competition in Bradford, in May 2024. She revealed: "I came home and
thought right OK, I'm going to take life seriously. Article continues below "I lost four stone and joined a gym local to me. "It was just from eating in a calorie deficit
"I tried to educate myself on the scientific way of losing weight healthily. "I committed to bodybuilding preparation in January 2024 and over seven months I lost a further two
stone. Ellie's ironclad commitment to her bodybuilding goal meant no off-days and putting her life on pause – no holidays, just pure focus. Her hard graft paid dividends when she
snagged the runner-up spot at the NABBA North West bodybuilding competition in Southport on May 26, 2024. A year after her impressive feat, Ellie has channelled her experience into becoming
a fat loss coach for women. She's candid about the transition from competition mode to normal life, admitting it wasn't all smooth sailing: "I thought after it would all be
rainbows and happiness as I'd worked for this goal, but I had a lot of healing to do." Ellie faced challenges like binge eating and body dysmorphia as she navigated her way back to
a healthy lifestyle: "A few bingeing habits crept back up and I struggled with body dysmorphia." Article continues below "It does have long lasting effects on your mental
health, and I have struggled with that," she added, "In my job as a fat loss coach I work with women to better their mindset and habits for weight loss and fat loss," she
said.
