South Korea, when the shell damaged houses and a church, a fire official said. According to reports, Air Force KF-16 fighter jet was participating in a joint South Korea-U.S. live-fire drill


when it accidentally dropped several air bombs on the civilian properties. A bomb disposal team is working to safely remove the other seven unexploded bombs, the BBC reported. A statement


from the Air Force obtained by Maeil Business Newspaper, a South Korean publication, reads: "At around 10:04 a.m. today (6th), eight MK-82 general bombs were abnormally dropped from the


Air Force KF-16 and crashed into an area outside the shooting range." Article continues below The statement continued, "The fighter was participating in air, army, and joint fire


drills." The Air Force reportedly formed an accident countermeasure committee with Deputy Chief of Staff Park Ki-wan serving as chairman to investigate what occurred as well as to


assess the damages. Fire authorities said the accident happened near Nangyudaegyo Bridge in Nogok-ri, Idong-myeion, Pocheon-si, and injured seven civilians, four of them severely. According


to the Korean Herald, the church and as many as seven civilian homes were partially damaged in the incident. The South Korean Air Force issued an apology after the incident. They wrote:


"We are sorry for the damage caused by the abnormal submersible accident, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery. "We will actively implement all necessary measures, including


compensation for damage." It was reportedly the first time in about two and a half years that a high-powered bomb and missile accident occurred in a military operation in the country.
