Guidelines issued by the state government state that carrying out structural audits of buildings increase its life span and avert mishaps. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has
decided to conduct structural audits of its properties. PCMC’s engineer department spokesperson Shirish Poredi said, “In the first phase, seven structures have been identified in ward-A for
the audit.” PCMC commissioner Dr Shrikar Pardeshi had instructed civic officials to conduct the structural audits in city before he left for the United States. When asked about the number of
old structures under the civic body, Poredi said, “Such data is not available. We plan to conduct the structural audits of the civic buildings first and later similar audits will be carried
out on private buildings.” The decision of carrying out structural audits of buildings and thereby increase its life span and avert mishaps and casualties has been taken in accordance of
guidelines issued by the state government. City engineer Mahavir Kamble and education board officer Vishnu Jadhav, along with the civic staff, inspected various PCMC schools and buildings
and identified seven structures in Ward A. These structures include Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Sanskritik Bhavan, Nigdi Octroi post, Akurdi PCMC hospital, Swami Vivekananda Primary and High
School at Kalbhornagar, Urdu high school at Akurdi, Lilabai Khivansara Primary school at Kalbhornagar.
