A status check is the name given to a check performed by an organisation on a person’s certificate on the DBS Update Service. The check involves checking a person’s DBS Certificate Number
(found on physical copy of a DBS Certificate, begins with 00) and seeing whether any change regarding convictions has taken place since the certificate was first issued.
