in terrific touch when Jake Wolfe posted the first score of the game after just three minutes when he collected a rebound off keeper Nick Green’s pads.
The glory was short lived in the must-win game as Queechy’s Stuart Withington levelled the game two minutes later, taking the ball of the keepers pads and guiding it in.
Constant attacks from Queechy had the Baptist defence under plenty of pressure for the remainder of the first half with forwards Evan Lawrence, Finn Bailey Matt Knox and Sam Rossetto all
lurking around the circle.
But their usually potent corner barrage failed to convert the opportunities, with Baptist goalkeeper Callum Poke covering plenty of ground to maintain the level scoreline for his team and
his defence giving the opposition little room to move as they searched for an advantage before the break.

as the Queechy attack stepped up the pressure, keeping the ball in their attacking half for most of the period.
Matt Franklin broke the deadlock with a corner conversion in the early stages before Evan Lawrence added another three minutes later to add plenty of scoreboard pressure to Baptist’s cause.
Even with a series of short corners awarded, Burnie were unable to make an impression as the Queechy defence held firm.
Baptist dominated the last fifteen minutes of the game, attacking the Q’s circle with relentless pressure as the old heads of the team pushed to score.
Marty Bissett, Jarrod Poke, Anthony Lockett and Andrew Ollington were all in the thick of the action, creating plenty of chances that failed to produce a result.
Bissett, a seasoned finals campaigner, showed that age has not wearied him as he controlled the Baptist centre in a best-on-ground performance, eclipsing the efforts of coach Matt Selby.
Queechy forward Evan Lawrence made his presence felt throughout the game with some solid tackles, earning him the umpires votes with side captain Tom Moir awarded next best for his efforts.
Queechy, who are five-time winners of the cup, will now face the last years premiers and two-time winners, South Launceston in next week’s grand final in an all-northern affair that has not
been a common occurrence in the competition’s history.
Result: Queechy def Burnie Baptist 3-1.
