A man has died following a crash on the M62 which closed the major motorway for ten hours last week.

The crash took place near Huddersfield, just before the junction 23 exit slip road on the eastbound carriageway, at around 5.41pm, on Thursday, May 29. Eight vehicles were involved in the

crash and the motorway was closed for ten hours overnight following the crash.

Now, a motorbike rider, 51, has died following the crash while in the hospital over the weekend. His family have been informed and they are receiving specialist support.

A 53-year-old man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He is currently on bail. The Major Collision Enquiry Team are investigating and have

issued a renewed appeal for information. West Yorkshire Police are looking to hear from any witnesses and they are asking drivers to check their dashcams for footage.

West Yorkshire Police said: "A motorbike rider who was seriously injured in a collision on the M62 last Thursday (May 29) has died. The 51-year-old died in hospital over the weekend. His

family are aware and are being offered specialist support. A 53-year-old man was arrested last Friday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is currently on bail.

"The collision is being investigated by the Major Collision Enquiry Team and detectives are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it to come

forward. Given this collision happened on the motorway network, there is potential for witnesses to not be local to the West Yorkshire area and members of the public can assist by sharing

this appeal on social media.
