One Direction had a rocky start to their music career. Each one of the band members were axed from ITV talent show X Factor in 2010, potentially ending their careers early. But Simon Cowell

saw potential in them all. He recalled Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne to form the supergroup fans now know as One Direction. However, their first

hurdle was coming up with a good name. Harry spoke out about the naming process in 2017 while he was promoting his debut solo album, Harry Styles. On his first reaction to hearing the name

One Direction, he revealed: "I thought it sounded good. We threw around names for a little bit, and I honestly don’t know." The star said "it kind of stuck" after the

name was brought up in a creative session between the new bandmates. The Watermelon Sugar singer also revealed who brought the name up in the first place. SCROLL DOWN TO WATCH THE FULL

INTERVIEW Straight-talking Harry announced: "I think it was me." With a smile, he added: "I know they’re not here to defend anything else, but it was me." Harry also

revealed that the rest of the band liked the title. He explained: "I suggested it and everyone was like ‘yeah we like that’ and then it kind of stuck, and that was what it was."

The band would not have survived on a good name alone. Each of the members spent almost all their time together, so a good friendship was imperative. The star, who was just 23-years-old at

the time, then opened up about how One Direction always looked like they were the best of friends during their time together. READ MORE: ONE DIRECTION STAR REVEALS 'WORST NIGHT OF MY

LIFE' - 'WORST 1D SHOW' Harry was also grilled about the music the band made. Zayn has famously gone on record to say he didn't like the music One Direction made in the

five years they were together. He told Zane Lowe: "Would you listen to One Direction, sat at a party with your girl? I wouldn’t. That’s not music that I would listen to. I don’t think

that’s an offensive statement to make. That’s just not who I am… I want to make music that I think is cool s**t. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for." Harry, on the other hand, was

a big fan of One Direction's music. Harry was asked point-blank a few times if he enjoyed the One Direction music. "Yes," he replied, before being asked "really?"

Harry confirmed: "Yes!" Since 1D broke up, Harry has worked on his own music, receiving a Grammy Award in the process. He has said of his new music: "I wanted it to be honest

and I wanted to love it every time I played it. It didn’t feel scary to me. The idea of making something I wasn’t 100 percent behind is much scarier to me." SOURCE / SOURCE
