The legislation concerns the eligibility of Child Winter Heating Assistance to include benefit claimants who are getting the enhanced daily living allowance of PIP from the Department for
Work and Pensions.
Currently, those in receipt of the highest-rated care component of DLA are eligible for this payment.
This legislation has expanded the eligibility of Child Winter Heating Assistance to include benefit claimants who are getting the enhanced daily living component of PIP from the DWP - which
means 5,000 more families will receive an extra payment.
Child Winter Heating Assistance is a payment of £202 which is made annually to those who are eligible for support.
Anyone eligible for the payment does not need to pay as it will be automatically given by Social Security Scotland.
All eligible families will get a letter of confirmation once the first payment has been made.
Most Winter Fuel Payment funds are distributed automatically in November or December.
if you're eligible, you will receive a letter outlining how much you will receive and your estimated payment date.
If money is not paid into their account by January 14, 2022, eligible individuals should contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.

The tax-free money is given to households where one person is over State Pension age which is when someone is born on or before September 26, 1955, or if they receive another social security
benefit (excluding Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Child Benefit or Universal Credit).
Any eligible person is able to claim between £100 and £300 to help with their heating bills.
To qualify one must have been born on or before September 26, 1955, and have lived in the UK for at least one day between September 20 and 26, 2021 - a period known as the qualifying week.
All benefits, pensions and allowances are paid into an account such as a bank account.
The amount one can claim is contingent on their circumstances.
