It wasn’t just people with higher cholesterol who showed benefits and the researchers noted even the healthier participants demonstrated a reduction in cholesterol. Emiliano Escobedo
executive director at the Hass Avocado board said: “This study supports the body of research showing the many benefits that fresh avocados have to offer when consumed in everyday healthy
eating plans.” Dr Nikki Ford, director of nutrition for Hass Avocado Board added: “Fresh avocado, as part of a balanced diet, and as a cholesterol-free substitute for solid fats, can help be
part of the solution for maintaining normal cholesterol levels. “Beyond their naturally good fats, avocados are also a delicious way to boost fiber and fruit intakes.” Other studies have
suggested avocados are also great for vision, preventing osteoporosis, fighting cancer, having a healthy baby, depression, digestion and detoxification. According to Heart UK, the
cholesterol charity, six out of ten people in the UK have raised or abnormal levels of blood cholesterol. Having high cholesterol doesn’t usually cause symptoms but can raise the risk of
narrowed arteries, heart attack, stroke and mini stroke, and peripheral material disease.
