Limescale can often build up on surfaces like taps, shower heads, and kettles. The chalky deposit can also cause problems with appliances like boilers and washing machines. Limescale is not
harmful to health, but it can be unsightly and can also reduce the efficiency of appliances. To prevent limescale build-up, homeowners can use a water softener or install a filter on their
taps. In kettles, limescale can make drinks taste unpleasant and make the appliance itself less efficient. With this in mind, Lynsey Crombie, in partnership with Dr. Beckmann, has shared how
to remove limescale from kettles using natural items. She exclusively told Express.co.uk: “My top tips are to either use a sliced lemon or 20ml of white vinegar. “Simply half-fill the
kettle add in your preferred choice, boil, leave to stand for 30 minutes, then empty and do a plain boil before your next cup of tea.” Lynsey is one of the UK’s most popular cleaning
influencers, sharing tips and tricks with her audience of over 300,000 followers on Instagram. Alongside this, Lynsey regularly features on ITV’s This Morning as their resident cleaning
expert. While there are chemical descalers out there, they can smell strong and often aren’t as effective as natural methods. Lemon juice and vinegar are both acidic which means they can
break down calcium carbonate which limescale is made from. White vinegar, in particular, is great for cleaning as it can also kill bacteria and neutralise smells. The citric acid in lemon
juice is both antibacterial and antiseptic and can even be used to remove rust.
