Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced the arrival of their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6 as royal fans crowded outside Windsor Castle for the long-awaited news. During

the pregnancy, rumour had been rife in regards to Meghan's birth plan – with the couple asking for "privacy", and commentators remained unsure whether the Duchess of Sussex would opt for a

home birth or a hospital delivery. Over a week after the birth of the newest member of the Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess have maintained radio silence on where Archie was born but royal

correspondent Chris Ship suggested the public may soon find out more about the baby's arrival. 

Speaking to ITV's The Royal Rota show, Mr Ship said: "What I find interesting is that baby Archie is now a week-and-a-half-old and we still don’t know for certain where the birth happened,

where she went for labour, where Meghan chose.

"I mean, why should we know? We’ve had this discussion before – it’s a very private moment, do we need to know if it was at home or hospital? Not really but it’s quite unusual not to be

told."

Mr Ship continued: "We think it might be the Portland Hospital, it might be a hospital in London. I think the best guess at the moment is that it wasn’t at home.

"You need to have the birth certificate. If the birth happened in London, the birth certificate will come from a London borough. If it happened in Windsor, it will be from the Royal Borough

of Windsor and Maidenhead."

Meghan Markle resumed her maternity leave at her home at Frogmore Cottage shortly after introducing son Archie to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh last Wednesday.

The beaming Duchess and Duke introduced the child to the world during an intimate photocall at St. George's Hall inside Windsor Castle – the same location of their wedding reception last

year.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married at St. George's Chapel in Windsor on May 19, 2018 and are just shy of celebrating their one-year anniversary. 

The couple giddily announced their engagement during an interview with the BBC, in which the now-Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared details of the proposal.

Prince Harry revealed he had popped the question on a "standard, typical night" at their London home as the couple was making dinner.

But according to 2019 Channel 5 documentary “Meghan Markle: Movies, Marriage and Motherhood”, Prince Harry had actually planned something completely different for the proposal.

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl claimed the now Duke of Sussex wanted to ask Meghan to marry him while they were on holiday in Botswana.

Ms Nicholl said: "I had actually been told by one of his friends that he had planned to pop the question in Botswana but for whatever reason, he didn’t.

"It happened a few weeks later while they were home, at Nottingham Cottage roasting a chicken.

"Utter domestic simplicity and bliss and incredibly romantic."

One of the diamonds in Meghan's engagement ring is from Botswana.

In 2017, Harry told Town & Country magazine: "This is where I feel more like myself than anywhere else in the world."
