British Comedian John Oliver wasted no time in giving his verdict on the recent Royal drama. The Last Week Tonight host revealed that he thought that a lot of people don’t really care about
the drama. Mr Oliver said on The Late Show to host Stephen Colbert: “I mean I respect the throne. “I don’t think anyone really cares as much as they think they do.” Mr Oliver then asked the
host whether he “cared” about what was going on with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Mr Colbert said: “No, I don’t care at all. “Americans generally care more than you all do.” Mr Oliver
then jokingly said that America had “taken a Prince”. He said: “Even though it was a piece of cultural annexation. “You took a Prince. You sent an American over there and you took a Prince.”

there." The Late Show host asked the comedian whether he understood America’s “obsession” with the situation. He asked: “Do you understand American’s obsession about this? “I know you
don’t care about the Royal Family - and I don’t. I don’t particularly care about the Royal Family, they seem like a tourist trap to me.” Mr Oliver responded: “I understand pageantry. “I
understand liking and being fascinated by someone else’s pageantry in the same way that I’m fascinated by the Super Bowl halftime show.” The comment garnered a hearty laugh and cheer from
the audience. However, not everyone has agreed with Mr Oliver's comments. CNN's Aubrey Hansen branded Mr Oliver's take as "completely ridiculous and misses the point
entirely". She said: "John Oliver believes that being part of the royal family 'was a horrible situation for them to be in.'" She continued: "It’s
flabbergasting how readily supporters believe the party line that Harry and Meghan ditched their royal duties because they couldn’t bear to live in the public eye. Or worse, when they blame
it on racism. "The reason they left the UK for North America is ridiculously simple. It should be evident to anyone not blinded by the nonsense spouted by the likes of John Oliver.
"The end game is to cash in on a lucrative royal brand that they can sell to an American audience."
