The Queen, 94, has currently put all her public duties and appearances on hold during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and is in “excellent spirits” at Windsor Castle, according to a royal
insider. Sources say the Queen expects to resume her public duty “as soon as she possibly can” and plans to “work harder than ever” after the lockdown is lifted. HOW IS THE QUEEN KEEPING
BUSY DURING LOCKDOWN? During the lockdown, the Queen is said to have been relying on her “substitutes” to take the royal lead, which includes Prince Charles and Camilla, and Prince William
and Kate Middleton. A royal source said the Queen is “riding every day” and “making the most of her time”, but is “looking forward to getting back to normal”. In addition, the monarch has
been spending more quality time with her husband, Prince Philip, 97. The Queen traditionally stays at Windsor around this time for Easter Court, but she is enjoying a prolonged stay with the
Duke of Edinburgh, who usually returns to Sandringham later this month. READ MORE: BUCKINGHAM PALACE AND WINDSOR CASTLE OFFER ROYAL FANS VIRTUAL TOUR “There’s a keenness to get back to
doing the sort of work she has always done. She very much believes in being seen.” Despite Buckingham Palace being closed to the public this summer, and operating with a skeleton staff, the
Queen is keen to get back to normal as soon as it is safe to do so. A Palace source added despite being in isolation, the Queen is still having a weekly virtual audience with the Prime
Minister and is still receiving her red Government box. Palace aides will not comment on what is being planned for the Autumn, but it is understood events for Her Majesty are in the
pipeline. They said: “She can’t be seen to be going against official Government advice, but it is fair to say she is looking forward to getting back to normal. “There is no suggestion of her
stepping back, she is very much fulfilling her duties as head of state.” The coronavirus crisis has forced the Royal Family to adapt the way it works. All senior members have been summoned
to work together and support the Queen, who is in regular contact with her family.
