The Duke and Duchess of Sussex got married in May 2018 in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. In January 2020, Meghan and Harry announced they would be stepping back as senior royals and
confirmed this year that they will not be returning as working royals.
The Duchess, born and raised in the US, could not “hack” being a member of the Royal Family, according to author Andrew Morton.
Speaking about his latest book, ‘Elizabeth & Margaret The Intimate World of the Windsor Sisters’, the royal expert told ToDiForDaily that Meghan did not foresee how hard it is to be a royal.
Mr Morton said: "She just couldn't hack it. She didn't anticipate that it was difficult.
"It was like trying to climb Everest without ropes and without boots.

The royal author added how he thinks Kate Middleton also struggled in her early days of royal life after marrying Harry’s brother, Prince William.
But Mr Morton explained that it took Kate “a long time” to be in command of her position in the Royal Family.
During Meghan and Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, the Duchess confessed that she went into marrying the prince “naively”.
Meghan explained that this was because she “didn’t grow up knowing much about the Royal Family”.

She added: “I didn’t fully understand what the job was: What does it mean to be a working royal? What do you do? What does that mean?”
Meghan said the “penny dropped” after she first met the Queen which was a “huge formality”.
She described how Harry had to show her how to curtsey just before meeting Her Majesty.
The Duchess explained how she had “confused the idea” of the Royal Family as regular celebrities.
She continued: “I grew up in LA, you see celebrities all the time. This is not the same but it’s very easy, especially as an American, to go, ‘These are famous people’. This is a completely
different ball game.”
