Queen Camilla travelled to Rye in East Sussex on Thursday to attend the Charleston Literature Festival and had a cheeky response to one suggestion made by a local. The Queen made the trip
solo as King Charles was otherwise engaged, as on the same day he received the ambassadors of Uzbekistan and Burkina Faso. She was however joined by writer and presenter, and friend of the
Firm, Gyles Brandreth, who joked that a plane flying overhead could be the King arriving. Camilla too was in good humour as she responded to a comment that Rye should be renamed Royal Rye
with a simple two-word reply: "Why not?" When asked how the King was doing during his cancer treatment Camilla said he was "getting better" but then admitted: "Well,
he would be if he behaved himself."
