The aircraft — Delta Air Lines Flight DL183 — going from Rome Leonardo da Vinci International Airport to New York JFK Airport, according to Aviation Source, had been making "a good
diversion" from France, across the English Channel to Heathrow. But, live trackers showed that the aircraft had rediverted back to the coast, off Plymouth, to dump fuel. The dumping of
fuel is to allow the safe landing of an aircraft, which would have been fully fuelled before take-off in Rome. The reason behind the emergency signal has not yet been identified.
Express.co.uk has approached Heathrow Airport and Delta Airlines for more clarification.
