Inspired by the true events of the Grenfell Tower fire of 2017, The Accident tells a harrowing story of a small-town community torn apart by a devastating construction site explosion. Over
the course of four episodes, the cast plays out the hard-hitting drama set in the fictional Welsh town of Glyngolau. Fronted by BAFTA TV Award-winner Sarah Lancashire, Channel 4 viewers will
undoubtedly recognise a number of the other actors to land roles in The Accident. WHO IS IN THE CAST OF THE ACCIDENT? POLLY BEVAN – SARAH LANCASHIRE Former Coronation Street star Sarah
Lancashire appears in all four episodes of the Channel 4 drama. Having previously worked with Jack Thorne on his previous four-part drama, Kiri, Lancashire says his writing was what drew her
to The Accident. Speaking to Channel 4, she said: “I love Jack’s voice. I love what he’s trying to say. He’s a fearless writer and in this he deliberately questions. “That is what’s so
interesting about it. He’s not afraid to explore difficult places, particularly in this where the public and the private and the political all collide, and then he’ll focus on it even more,
put more pressure on it by putting a media spotlight on it too.” Her CV also includes roles in BBC dramas Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax. ANGELA GRIFFITHS – JOANNA SCANLAN
BAFTA-nominee Joanna Scanlan stars as Angela in The Accident. Angela is described by Scanlan as “working-class woman” who’s “a kind of fun-seeking community-minded fairly happy woman,
despite the fact that she’s got almost no material possessions or no material support.” Scanlan also cites Thorne’s writing for one of the reasons she joined the cast. She said her decision
was down to “a combination of things. The script obviously, Jack Throne’s script. The fact that it was set in Wales and that’s where I come from.” The actor added: “I was obviously very
excited to work with Sarah Lancashire, who I’ve long admired.” IWAN BEVAN – MARK LEWIS JONES Mark Lewis Jones takes on the role of Iwan Bevan, the man who gave the green light to the
disastrous building project. Jones said accepting the role on The Accident was a “no-brainer.” He said: “I worked with Jack Thorne on National Treasure and loved it. I loved his writing and
have seen lots of stuff he’s written. “I’ve always been a massive fan of Sarah Lancashire. And the part: the part is fantastic. It was a no-brainer, this job.” He recently starred in HBO’s
Chernobyl and Amazon Prime drama Carnival Row. PHILIP WALTERS – ADRIAN SCARBOROUGH Fresh from the success of Killing Eve, Adrian Scarborough takes on a new role on the Channel 4 drama. He
plays Philip Walters, a local lawyer, and is penned to star in every episode. The actor’s instantly recognisable as Pete from Gavin & Stacey as well as for roles in ITV’s Sanditon and
film Notes on a Scandal. Other actors to star in the cast of The Accident include: * Jade Croot as Leona Bevan * Sidse Babett Knudsen as Harriet Paulsen * Shaun Parkes as Martin Harris *
Airy Thomas as Greta * Ruth Madly as Laura * Kai Owen as Alan * Nathan Rizwan as Tim * Verity Blyth as Bertie _THE ACCIDENT PREMIERES ON CHANNEL 4 TONIGHT AT 9PM._
