Rula Lenska has revealed that she has been asked to sign up to the BBC series on more than one occasion, however deemed herself “too old” to have a go.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the 70-year-old opened up on her reasons for not appearing as well as her shock hearing loss.

“I’ve been asked a couple of times to do Strictly Come Dancing,” Rula commented. “Which I would have loved to have done.”

The actress continued: “Unfortunately I've got a bad back, and it's just asking for problems. The movements are so extreme that it would have been a constant worry.”

“I would have given my high teeth to have done it but sadly I'm too old and insecure in the back.”

Rula, who famously took part in Celebrity Big Brother with George Galloway back in 2006, also ruled herself out of doing I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!.

Meanwhile, Dennis Waterman’s ex also opened up about how she was in denial about the problems with her hearing, but stated how it had not effected her work.

“It was one of those things that was difficult to admit to, because people can make mountains out of molehills,” the star, who is supporting Wetnose Day, stated.

She added: “People find it difficult to admit to, because it is a process associated with old age. My hearing loss is not an aged loss - there not quite sure how it happened.”

Rula also urged: “Don't pretend that it's not happening, like I did for a long time. I've had an awful lot of correspondence from people saying how brave I am, I don't think it is but it's

necessary.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6.45pm on BBC One.
