Tyson Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum has compared The Gypsy King to Muhammad Ali in terms of the way they capture the public’s attention. The pair have achieved massive honours inside the
boxing ring and are noted for their big personalities.
However, Arum believes the two men differ in some respects. “They’re not the same personalities because Tyson is a lot less political and more of an entertainer,” Arum told talkSPORT.
“But they’re both tremendously charismatic, they both capture the attention of the public with the kind of personalities they have.”
Frank Warren made a similar comparison when he spoke to Express Sport two weeks ago. “From a publicity point of view, I think he’s the nearest thing to Muhammad Ali. I can’t think of another
heavyweight that’s been like him,” he said. “Him and Ali were just chips off the old block. The press conference you could have sold tickets for. What a fight that would have been.”
Fury is set to return to the ring on December 3 against Derek Chisora after briefly retiring from the sport following a knockout victory over Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April. This
will be the third time that the pair have squared off having boxed each other at domestic level in 2011 and 2014.
Fury won both contests, the first on points and the second via a tenth-round retirement victory. Fury had been in talks to stage the first undisputed heavyweight unification clash of the
four-belt era at the back end of the year with Oleksandr Usyk before the Chisora fight was booked.

However, The Cat ruled himself out of competition until early 2023. The pair are now expected to face off in February as they race to get the fight done before Joe Joyce’s WBO mandatory is
called in March.
“Hopefully he gets by Chisora,” Arum continued, “and if he does then I’ll be meeting next week with Egis Klimas, who is the manager of Lomachenko and Usyk will be there.
“So, we’ll have a big discussion of where we go, we’re not going to sit around and wait for the Saudis forever.”
