The Rugby Park side have lost their last two games to Inverness Caley Thistle and Hamilton and the Motherwell midfielder wants to make it three-in-a-row.
But as he tries to help Well to a home victory that would see them leapfrog Kilmarnock in the SPL, he’ll pause for a second to wonder what might have been if he had opted for Rugby rather
than Fir Park.
The 29-year-old midfielder said: “I was very close to signing for Killie a couple of years ago.
“I was supposed to be signing for Blackpool but things changed there so I came back up the road and Killie gave me training facilities and I was impressed with everything there. I was really
close to signing until I got a call from Motherwell and things changed again after that.

“Even then, though, I was in two minds. But once I spoke to a few people, including Maurice Malpas who was manager at the time, I decided to do it and I am happy I made that decision.
“But I must have been at Killie for two or three weeks at least doing pre-season training and they offered me a contract.
For a while Lasley could have been forgiven for wondering if he had done the right thing as Motherwell struggled.
He admitted: “That first season was a hard one for me. I got a bad knee injury and things just didn’t really go as planned that first year but to be honest I always felt that I had made the
right decision and I stuck by it.
“And last season was such a bonus for everybody. It was definitely the best season I have been involved with in terms of finishing third and qualifying for Europe, plus the way we played and
the enjoyment of working with manager Mark McGhee.”
Kilmarnock are among the lowest scorers in the Premier League, but last night Rugby Park captain Garry Hay insisted the lack of goals is not just down to the strikers.
Killie have notched just 14 goals so far this term but Hay insisted: “Everyone has to take responsibility. It’s not just down to lads like Conor Sammon and Donovan Simmonds, for instance.
“We can’t rely on just the forwards scoring and we have to weigh in with goals from elsewhere in the team as well.” Killie could use goals at Fir Park tomorrow night to edge clear of
Motherwell.
The Ayrshire side are currently just a couple of points in front of their Lanarkshire rivals and Hay expects this game to be tight.
He added: “The game between us at Rugby Park earlier in the season could probably have gone either way, although we edged it and they have had similar ups and downs to our own this season.
“It’s bound to be close but after our game last weekend was called off we’re keen to get going again.
“And after a couple of defeats against Inverness Caley and Hamilton we’re anxious to get back on track.”
