Firmino missed last weekend's 4-0 thumping of West Ham after taking a knock in the goalless draw with Southampton the game before. The Brazilian forward was expected to return for
Liverpool's crucial final Premier League game of the season against Middlesbrough. But according to the _Liverpool Echo_, Firmino is a fitness doubt for the Boro clash after missing
this afternoon's training session at Melwood. The Reds need to win at Anfield in order to secure Champions League football next season, with fifth-placed Arsenal sat just one point
behind. Jurgen Klopp was initially hopeful of having the 25-year-old available for the final game after the West Ham game. When asked if he could feature against Boro after the West Ham win,
he said: “Not a real idea, but it’s a bigger chance than for this game today. “We tried a little bit on Friday, only with a little running. [But] he still felt the muscle, so [there was] no
chance." Firmino has been a key player for Liverpool this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 10 assists in his 40 appearances across all competitions. Should Firmino sit out of the
Boro game, Daniel Sturridge is expected to keep his place in the Liverpool attack. The England international, who has struggled with injuries all season, bagged a brace to sink West Ham at
the London Stadium.
