Carrick is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season with the 36-year-old likely to take up a role on Mourinho’s coaching staff. The departure of the England international will
leave sizeable hole in the Red Devils’ midfield, with Carrick pulling the strings ever since his arrival from Tottenham back in the summer of 2006. And the Manchester Evening News say three
names are in the frame to take over from the veteran. It is said Jorginho, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Jean Michael Seri could be on the move to Old Trafford. Jorginho has blossomed for
Napoli and reports said he was shortlisted as a Carrick replacement in January. Milinkovic-Savic, meanwhile, has shone for Lazio and, speaking last month, manager Simone Inzaghi talked the
player up. “He is 22 and doing really well, so attracting interest is normal,” he said. “I speak with him a lot, though. He is happy here. “He is happy with Lazio, and he is aware that if
teams like that are interested in him, then it will be down to Lazio [if he leaves]. “I’m happy if there is interest in our players. It proves that we’re doing well, but at the moment he’s
very happy at Lazio. Last year he signed a new long-term contract with us.”
