38 students denied entry at the Colaba and Kalyan centers
Mumbai : Kendriya Vidylaya No.1, Colaba and Arya Gurukul School Kalyan (West) allegedly denied entry to odd 38 candidates to the All India Pre-Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) examination on
Saturday claiming students were ‘few minutes’ late for the exam.
Aggrieved candidates protested and damaged the school property alleging that schools closed the entrance gates few minutes before the schedule time on Saturday.
Claiming that authorities of these schools have deprived their children from appearing in medical entrance test as well as their prospective career, parents created a ruckus and broke the
security cabins. One of the two schools registered police complaint in this regard.

they had requested police protection and registered an FIR with the local police.
In a damage control mode and to save face, CBSE authorities had taken several stringent measures to avoid malpractices during the entrance test. This was a re-test. First test was carried
out on May 3, 2015. However, there were reports of rampant malpractice in northern states. Authorities had demanded for re-test to give justice to the honest students.
Local schools said that they had taken measures like individual screening of the students by hand held metal detector (HHMD) and mobile jammers in school premises. And deadline of last entry
at 9.30 am was strictly followed.
Arvind Kumar Singh, father of Surbhi Singh who was denied entry at Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 in Colaba, said, “We had reached the school gate at 9.25 am but gates were closed. The watchman
said that he will inquire with principal and went inside the school building. He came back at 9.35am and said that time was over and candidates were not allowed to enter.” He added, “I was
on time. Due to miscommunication of the school and watchman my child is deprived of her prospective career.”
Sachin Tupe, a candidate of the same school, alleged that gates of the school were closed before 9.30 am. He said, “Security was scanning every student with metal detector. It took long time
for them to screen scores of students. At 9.25 am they closed the gates. Total 30 students are denied entry.”
Another student Kajal Tawade who broke down after being denied the entry said, “I have studied for the whole year. At the time of exam, they did not give us entry saying I was late by
three-four minutes.”
Bharat Malik, trustee of Arya Gurukul School, said, “On the direction of CBSE, we had closed the gates at 9.30 am. Entry time was from 7.30 am to 9.30 am. Odd 7-8 students were late. We
instructed them that they were late and cannot enter. Still they tried to barge in the centre and their parents created a ruckus. They broke glasses of the security cabin. An FIR was
registered for damaging the school property.”
