4 November 1999Natural rubber hardensNATURAL rubber prices are firming up in spite of forecasts that the market will remain oversupplied for at least another year.
There is market speculation that prices are rising because some big consumers have “under-bought” and are now trying to secure supplies.
The recent strength of the market comes after prices dipped to historic lows over the last two years.
Analysts predict a rise in consumption next year but say there will be a supply surplus until 2001.
