Press release PLANNED ROADWORKS IN NORTH EAST:WEEKLY SUMMARY FOR MONDAY 9TH TO SUNDAY 15TH FEBRUARY 2015 The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming

week is correct as of 6 February but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as

little disruption as possible. A1M JUNCTION 63 INTERCHANGE, CHESTER-LE-STREET, COUNTY DURHAM: IMPROVEMENT WORK There will be various lane closures on the southbound exit slip road and

roundabout, ongoing until spring 2015. A1 JUNCTION 56 TO JUNCTION 51, NORTH YORKSHIRE: MOTORWAY UPGRADE WORK There will be phases of night time lane closures, contraflows and full

carriageway closures north and southbound. There will also be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day. Work will be ongoing until March 2017. Additionally there will be a

full southbound closure between Scotch Corner and Junction 51 and northbound between Junction 50 and Scotch Corner, overnight 8pm – 6am. This will take place 14 February. Diversions will be

in place. A1 COALHOUSE TO SWALWELL INTERCHANGES, NEWCASTLE/GATESHEAD WESTERN BYPASS: MAJOR UPGRADING WORK There are 24 hour narrow lanes, contraflow with 30mph and 40mph speed restrictions

currently in place. There are also night time lane closures in place north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. Further phases of carriageway closures, lane closures and contraflow will be

ongoing until spring 2016. Additionally there will be a full closure north and southbound between Coalhouse Interchange and Lobley Hill. This will take place between 8pm and 6am 14 and 15

February. A1 SEATON BURN INTERCHANGE, CRAMLINGTON, NORTHUMBERLAND: JUNCTION IMPROVEMENT WORK Work to improve the interchange will be ongoing until the end of February. Phases of night time

lane closures and some slip road closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place throughout the works. A1M JUNCTION 62 TO 63, COUNTY DURHAM, BARRIER

WORK There will be 24/7 lane 2 closures with drivers using the hard shoulder and lane 1 for the duration of the works. The works will take place until end of April. A1 SMEAFIELD,

NORTHUMBERLAND, DRAINAGE WORKS There will be daytime traffic signals north and southbound between 8am and 6pm. The work will take place until early March. A1 CONUNDRUM FARM TO SCOTTISH

BORDER, NORTHUMBERLAND: RESURFACING WORK There will be night time convoy working between 8pm and 6am, and daytime lane closure between 6am and 8pm. The works will take place until 19

February. A1 TRITLINGTON TO EARSDON, NORTHUMBERLAND: TECHNOLOGY WORK There will be traffic signals north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. There will also be a 40mph speed limit in place

24 hours a day. The work will take place until 20 February. A1 ALNWICK, NORTHUMBERLAND: ALNWICK SOUTH BRIDGE REFURBISHMENT There will be right lane closures north and southbound to install

carriageway crossovers followed by a full closure southbound with all traffic running in contraflow on the northbound carriageway 24 hours a day. The A1068 below the bridge will operate

under traffic signal control. The works will take place until August 2015. A1M JUNCTION 58 – 59, COUNTY DURHAM: STRUCTURAL MAINTENANCE There will be a carriageway closure northbound with a

lane closure southbound until 13 February. There will then be a carriageway closure southbound with a lane closure northbound 16 – 27 February. All work will take place overnight between 8pm

and 6am. A1M JUNCTION 60 - 61, COUNTY DURHAM: INVESTIGATION WORK There will be a lane closure northbound 9 - 18 February, and a lane closure southbound 19 – 28 February. The work will take

place between 8pm and 6am. A66 CUMBRIAN BORDER, COUNTY DURHAM: HORTICULTURAL WORK There will be a lane closure westbound between 9am and 3.30pm. The work will take place 9 and 10 February.

A1M JUNCTION 64, COUNTY DURHAM: INVESTIGATION WORK There will be a lane closure southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 9 – 12 February. A1 KENTON BAR TO GOSFORTH,

NEWCASTLE: MAINTENANCE WORK There will be a lane closure north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 7 and 8 February. A1 NORTH BRUNTON TO SEATON BURN, NEWCASTLE:

ELECTRICAL WORKS There will be a lane closure southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 9 – 13 February. A1 RIVER COQUET TO WARRENERS HOUSE, NORTHUMBERLAND: LINING WORK There

will be convoy working north and southbound between 8pm and 6am. The work will take place 9 – 13 February. A1 KENTON BAR TO SEATON BURN, NEWCASTLE: BRIDGE MAINTENANCE There will be a full

closure northbound 9 – 20 February and a full closure southbound 23 February – 6 March. The work will take place between 8pm and 6am. A19 SEATON BURN TO HOWDON, NORTH TYNESIDE: BRIDGE

MAINTENANCE There will be a full closure north and southbound between Howdon to Silverlink 9 and 10 February, and Holystone to Silverlink 11 – 16 February. All closures will take place

between 8pm and 6am. A1 HAGGERSTON, NORTHUMBERLAND: HORTICULTURAL WORK There will be traffic signals in place between 8am and 5pm. The works will take place 9 and 10 February. GENERAL
