Mercy Jeyasingham has been working in the voluntary health and social care sector for over 30 years, most recently as the CEO of the umbrella organisation for the eye health and sight loss
sector. Currently a management consultant specialising in managing charities, health and social care policy, and equalities she is also a local volunteer. She has been a charity trustee for
local, regional and national charities and has held a number of government appointments. She was Vice Chair of the Afiya Trust, a national organisation campaigning to reduce inequalities in
health and social care provision for racialised groups. She was a non-executive director of NICE for 12 years, and Chair of their HR committee for 8 years, as well as a member of the NICE
Appeal panel for technology appraisals for 14 years both as a patient advocate and then as a member of the board. She Chaired Fitness to Practice committees for the General Optical Council
for 10 years. Mercy was a member of the Ministerial Advisory Board of the Medicines Control Agency just before the MHRA was established.
