Data on the age, sex, weight, and height of visceral leishmaniasis patients in different endemic regions of the world were collected, and used to forecast the costs and volumes of drug
therapy. It was found that there were significant differences between patient populations in anthropometric variables, and therefore in treatment costs; analysis of these differences can
promote cost-saving and effective use of available therapies involving different treatment and control strategies in different populations.
