Two Rottweiler dogs were shot to death after they attacked a man in front of his Ladera Heights home and charged at deputies early Saturday, authorities said.
Keith Stinson, 22, was bitten about 4:30 a.m. as he was picking up a newspaper outside his La Cienega Boulevard home, said Sheriff’s Deputy Fidel Gonzales. Deputies Geody Akamoto, 25, and
Michael McBride, 42, arrived and were trying to contain the dogs in a nearby yard when one dog charged at Akamoto, who killed it with two blasts from a shotgun.
The other dog also charged and Akamoto fired again, but only wounded it. The dog then turned on McBride, who shot it once with his .38-caliber revolver.
Gonzales said Stinson was treated for a single tooth-puncture wound to his right hand at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital in Inglewood. The dogs’ owner was not immediately located.
