A Lotto player who purchased his ticket in Fountain Valley will share the nearly $5.4-million jackpot with another player who bought his ticket in San Bernardino, lottery officials said
Thursday. The players, whose identities were not yet known, selected all six correct numbers in the midweek drawing and will each receive about $2.69 million in equal annual payments over 20
years, less federal income tax withholdings. Seven players who correctly chose five numbers plus the bonus number will each get $206,426. The 7 winning tickets were purchased in Yorba
Linda, Chula Vista, La Crescenta, Los Angeles, Alameda, San Francisco and Vallejo. There were 224 winning five-of-six tickets, each worth $3,323; 12,421 winning four-of-six tickets, each
worth $54; and 235,696 winning three-of-six tickets, each worth an automatic $5. The winning numbers were 9, 10, 16, 27, 38 and 39. The bonus number was 15. Officials said the winner of
Saturday’s Lotto 6/49 drawing was Mark Montano, 26, of Bellflower, a computer company courier. Montano won $6.22 million by being the only player to pick all six winning numbers. He said he
picked his own numbers: 1, for being “one in Christ”; 18, for when he went into the Marines; 19, for his birthday; 20, for when he had an illness; 27, for the age he’ll be, and 8, as just a
lucky number. He will receive $248,400 annually after taxes for 20 years. He plans to invest most of his money and spend some of it on his upcoming wedding. MORE TO READ
