DAYTON, Ohio — A woman shot in the face by a band of robbers in a $30 holdup died Thursday, becoming the sixth fatality from a weekend killing spree, authorities said. Sarah Abraham, a
37-year-old convenience store clerk, died four days after being wounded. A witness told authorities that Abraham handed the robbers $30--all that was in the cash register--but that they
demanded more money and shot her, police said. Police said robbery was the original motive but that the shootings, which began Christmas Eve and ended Saturday, might have turned into “joy
killings.” Four people were in custody. Police said one man was shot and killed at his home before his car was stolen. Published reports have said another victim was fatally shot for her
expensive tennis shoes, but police declined to confirm that. Funerals were held Thursday for three victims: Wendy Cottrill, 16, and her boyfriend, Marvin Washington, 18, who were found in a
gravel pit, and for Richmond Mattox, 19, who was shot in his car. MORE TO READ
