The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce will kick off a membership drive today ) in an effort to recruit 50 new members. Membership Stampede, the campaign’s theme, is in keeping with the Western
character of Old Town, where the chamber office is located, said Carol Amenta, executive director. Also during March, members will be encouraged to wear chamber buttons to increase public
awareness of the organization. The chamber, which has been planning the drive since October, has formed separate committees to target various sectors of the business community, said Amenta.
For example, one group will target former members, and another will focus on large businesses that haven’t been chamber members. The organization had considered hiring a consultant to mount
the campaign, but decided against it, said Amenta. The chamber believes its members have enough expertise and enthusiasm to accomplish the task without outside help, she said. The drive will
end April 4 at the Sagebrush Cantina on Calabasas Road, with a mixer for new members at 5:30 p.m., chamber officials said. Along with hosting business events, the chamber offers maps and
visitors’ guides. For further information, call the chamber at (818) 222-5690. The chamber’s new president is Donna Heyn. MORE TO READ
