I’m happy that Orson Bean has a good job on a TV series (“Call Him a ‘Quick-Change’ Artist,” by Daryl H. Miller, June 1). I’m happy that his wife, Alley Mills, has a job on a TV series. But
I’m not happy that actors work for nothing or next-to-nothing in L.A.’s smaller theaters. The landlord gets his rent, playwrights get royalties, parking-lot people get paid. Why should
actors work for nothing? Ticket prices are up to $20 in these small theaters. Surely Mr. Bean can understand that actors, in addition to having to act, have to pay their bills too. JEFFREY
