Junior running backs Bryant Thompson and Daymeion Hughes each threw touchdown passes Friday and Crenshaw came from behind to defeat Dorsey, 24-20, in an emotional Coliseum League opener at
Crenshaw. Crenshaw trailed, 20-18, with 3 minutes 17 seconds remaining when quarterback Erick Willcockson, who completed 13 of 26 passes for 153 yards with a touchdown, was forced to leave
the game after being hit during a pass attempt on a third-and-18 play at the Dorsey 32. Thompson, who had a 59-yard touchdown pass on a halfback option play, replaced Willcockson and two
plays later, he pitched to Hughes, who ran toward the right sideline before pulling up and passing six yards to Michael Nicholson for the game-winning touchdown. Nicholson had seven
receptions for 115 yards. Tremaine Towns of Dorsey scored the game’s first touchdown when he blocked a punt and returned it one yard for a touchdown with 10:16 left in the second quarter.
Towns also caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Theron Shakir. Derron Ware had three interceptions for Dorsey. MORE TO READ
