The British Soap Awards saw EastEnders emerge as the major victors, securing the prestigious title of Best British Soap and outpacing their competitors - Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and
Hollyoaks. EastEnders ultimately won eight accolades. Notable wins included Steve McFadden, who received the Best Dramatic Performance award and an award for Best Single Episode, centred
around Phil Mitchell's struggle with psychosis. Hollyoaks claimed three awards, while Emmerdale secured two. Coronation Street obtained a single award - the Outstanding Achievement
Award for David Neilson's three-decade-long portrayal of Roy Cropper. Dazzling the glitter carpet were prominent figures from the world of soap operas, with Hollyoaks' Jorgie
Porter and Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien drawing attention in an identical Oh Polly dress, reports the Mirror. Preceding her acceptance of the Scene of the Year award,
EastEnders veteran Anita Dobson shared: "It was just perfect." When questioned about a possible return, she mused: "I don't think so, although I should say never say
never, it would have to be something extra special." Gillian Taylforth, who plays Kathy Beale, noted: "It was just brilliant, although none of us knew that she was coming back!
We'll need Ange back if anything ever happened to Kathy, not that I want it too." The awards were back in action after last year's cancellation and the star-studded ceremony,
held at London's Hackney Empire, was hosted by Jane McDonald, with TV legends Sir David Jason and Larry Lamb presenting the awards. THE BRITISH SOAP AWARDS 2025 WINNERS LIST IN FULL
