Two friends bought their beloved local Leicestershire micro-pub when they heard it was closing down. Will Moody and Keith Williamson took matters into their own hands and hope the venue
continues to serve its community. Will and Keith were taken aback when they heard in February The Mash & Press in Anstey, which had been open since 2019, was closing down. However, the
good friends did not want to lose their local forever and decided to take over the business themselves - even with work commitments elsewhere taking up their time. Will, who is now the owner
of the pub, told LeicestershireLive: "I live around the corner from it and its our local. We were there one day in mid February and were told i'ts closing down so myself along
with Keith decided we would invest some money into it and see if we can make it work." READ MORE: I've been to lots of Leicestershire beer gardens - here are my favourite Since
taking over the business, Will and Keith have renamed The Mash & Press to The Kneaded Pint - a title that reflects its past. The venue is situated in Albion Street, through an entrance
next to the Family Choice convenience store. The Kneaded Pint honours the fact the building used to be a former bakery. Three members of staff work in the micropub, which includes licensee
Keith who maintains the day-to-day business of the pub and two bar staff members. Mr Moody said: "Its very much a community thing, I’m not expecting to make much money out of it and I’m
hoping I don’t lose money from it." The new owners are keen to bring more customers into the pub though and the closely knit team have started launching events, including a monthly
quiz on the last Wednesday of each month. There will also be a live comedy night on the first Wednesday of each month, the next one scheduled on Wednesday, June 4. Making the place a real
heart of the community is their biggest aim though. 62-year-old Will said: "We’ve tried to make it a place that is comforting so that people can come in on their own and have a
conversation with someone, there is always somebody in there to talk to." The Kneaded Pint also has a beer garden to the side of the micro-pub and the venue is open Weds-Thurs; 5-10pm;
Fri; 4-10pm; Sat-Sun; 3-10pm. More information can be found on their social media pages. WE ARE NOW BRINGING YOU THE LATEST UPDATES ON WHATSAPP FIRST
