IT DOESN'T TAKE VIEWERS LONG TO BINGE THE WHOLE SERIES PETER HARRIS Live Content Editor 10:20, 03 Jun 2025 BBC viewers can now stream a 'hugely satisfying' crime drama about a

real life serial killer. The Black Forest Murders was recently added to the broadcaster's streaming library and is already proving popular. With only four episodes making up the

series, it is not taking viewers long to binge the entire thing. A German-made production, it proved popular enough in its native country that the BBC were convinced to bring it to UK

viewers themselves. While the series is fictional, it is inspired by real-life cases, serial killers and the specialised police teams that work to catch those responsible. It combines two

cases that occurred back in 2016. The series also finds inspiration from the non-fiction Walter Roth book SOKO Erle. READ MORE: One of the funniest UK movies of all time is airing on TV

detective inspector Barbara Kramer takes over the case. The pressure on the investigators increases when parallels to a second crime emerge. Nina Kunzendorf plays Senior Detective Barbara

Kramer, while Tilman Strauß portrays a member of her investigative team, Thomas Riedle. Article continues below In The Guardian's review, they claimed that the show is "like

watching a hugely satisfying puzzle come together." They added: Meanwhile, Good Housekeeping have also described the series as "absolutely gripping" and “scarily

compelling". While seemingly not having received a wide release enough to register a score or even a listing on website Rotten Tomatoes, it is still finding a dedicated viewership. Many

fans are praising it for standing out for being a detective show about detective work, rather than focusing on their character's personal lives. One person shared their thoughts online

saying: "I found it very refreshing to actually focus on the police work for once, and not hear all sorts of love stories or other personal details about the detectives for the 100th

time. I still really liked all the actors in their roles and would be happy to see a sequel!" Another added: "We liked the series so much that we watched all the episodes right

away. And it never got boring. This crime thriller was free of staged chases and unnecessary action—just good, real police work." They continued: "Good actors, though difficult to

understand at times. The sound was the only downside to this strong crime thriller." Article continues below Someone else posted: "A wonderfully authentic and unpretentious

narrative, a crime story like you'd only wish for, not cluttered with ridiculous subplots and overly contrived action. A fantastic team around Nina Kunzendorfer, who always remains

believable. Fantastic! I wish there were more original productions with such a dense atmosphere and such well-acted acting." Quite a few people praised the realistic portrayal of

investigations. This includes one person who put forward: "Just when you think it's going on too long, the suspense wins you over. It shows how meticulous the police work is, and

also the hurdles that have to be overcome. Simply brilliant" _THE BLACK FOREST MURDERS IS STREAMING ON BBC IPLAYER._
