It has been another remarkable season for Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting Clube de Portugal, having won the Liga Portugal Betclic and the Portuguese Cup, while he was also named Player of the
Season amid ongoing transfer links to Manchester United. Speculation surrounding his future continues to grow amid increasing talk of a potential move to the Premier League. United are among
the clubs linked with the striker - and were thought to be in a strong position after securing Ruben Amorim from Sporting in November. However, a failure to qualify for the Champions League
has forced the club to scale back its transfer ambitions. Arsenal, who are also in the race for Gyokeres' signature, are in a stronger position to recruit the Sweden striker. Those
close to Gyokeres have been quizzed about his next potential move, including his teammates at Sporting and current manager, Rui Borges. As he now prepares to join up with the Sweden national
team, coach Jon Dahl Tomasson was inevitably asked whether he could offer any hints about the player's future. "Of course, I'm not going to say," he said when asked
about which club Gyokeres should join. "Otherwise there would be an explosion. There will definitely be players changing clubs. "We know that every year. If we look at each player,
the right choice must be made before heading to a certain club. We also have family and we have to keep that in mind. It's not easy. At the end of the day, that is football." The
striker's family have already made it clear, they would like to see him remain in Lisbon for another season. His uncle, Chris, confirmed his wish is for the United target to stay put.
"Yes, very much," he told Sport.TV when asked if he and his family members felt connected to Lisbon. "Yesterday, over dinner,we decided that he has to stay." From
Sporting's perspective, there is no real urgency or pressure to sell the player, who is reportedly valued at £60million. Vice-president Francisco Salgado Zenha recently addressed the
situation during a press conference hosted by Radio Renascenca. "Gyokeres? He has three more years on his contract," he said. "At the moment, there are no offers. He has three
more years on his contract. I think the answer has been given." GET UNITED TRANSFER NEWS AND UPDATES ON WHATSAPP! Our team of Manchester United experts are on top of all the goings-on
